The Short Story: Junior Emily Dyke's top-10 finish highlighted the VCU cross country team's regular season opening meet, the Richmond Spider Alumni Open. Dyke carried over from her success last year, where she won four different races, and clocked in at 11:31 to finish ninth on the women's side. Overall, the women's squad finished third at the meet.
On the men's side, junior Austin Lushinski led the way with a top-20 finish to help the Rams to a fourth-place finish. VCU had two freshmen finish in their top five runners.
