DYBAS, RAMS DOMINATE HAGAN STONE PARK INVITATIONAL
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Going into the 2010 season, the Virginia
Commonwealth University men's cross country team knew that the
performances of their veterans would determine the outcome.
That was on display this weekend as the Rams dominated the Hagan Stone Park Invitational behind an outstanding showing by senior Piotr Dybas, who sped through the eight-kilometer course in 25:55.30.
"I'm really proud of the way our seniors have stepped up so far this year," Director of Cross Country Nicole Cook said. "They've really set the tone for the whole team and as a group, we've continued to putting things together with our championship meet as our focus."
Dybas led the Black & Gold in a sweep of the top five spots with classmate Walid Berkhedle grabbing second place in a time of 26:26.70.
Senior John
Vial rounded out the top five with a time of 27:11.20
to complete the sweep for the Rams.
VCU is back in action next weekend when they travel to the
prestigious Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa. Race time on
Friday, Oct. 1 is set for 5 p.m.
