The Short Story: VCU Men's Track & Field opened Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship weekend with a solid day one showing. The Rams were led by senior Bashir Idris who won his event on Friday.

How It Happened

  • Senior Bashir Idris won the Long Jump and earned 10 VCU points after posting a leap of 7.09m. Freshman Camron Browne finished third in the event, recording a leap of 6.90m to contribute 6 more points.
  • Freshman JeVon Waller placed second in the preliminary round of the 60m Dash, posting a time of 6.88. Senior Jamik Alexander finished third in the same event, recording a time of 6.93.
  • Sophomore Will Schwartz placed third in the Weight Throw, posting a toss of 18.19 to gain six points for VCU.
  • Junior Ian Davis won the prelims of the 60m Hurdles, posting a time of 8.02. He will compete in the finals of the event tomorrow. Freshman Emmanuel Waller and Daiqwaun Faircloth also qualified for the final round of the event after finishing fifth and eighth respectively.
  • VCU is currently fifth overall after day one.

The Rams will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 24, for day two of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.
