RAMS TAKE SECOND IN 4X400 RELAY AT BULLS INVITATIONAL

The Short Story: 400 meter races were good to the Rams on Saturday as they took second in the 4x400 relay and placed among the top in the 400 meter dash.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Four Rams ran the 400 meter in under 49 seconds on Saturday. Senior Devon Thompson led the way, placing fourth overall and second among attached athletes. His time of 47.78 was just shy of his personal best. Bigal Harrison took the ninth spot, while Kahlil Shepard and Chukwuezugo Aguolu placed 12th and 13th.

  • Austin Conway recorded a personal best in his attempt at the 800 meter run. The junior placed ninth among 47 runners with a 1:55.97.

  • VCU's distance runners also found success in the 1,500 meter and the 5,000. Lucas Sidle's 4:05.89 in the 1,500 was a personal best for the sophomore, while Bryce Catlett earned a fourth overall finish in the 5,000 with a 15:30.02.

  • The Rams claimed second in the 4x400 meter relay behind the efforts of Shepard, Thompson, Aguolu, and Harrison. The squad finished their four laps in 3:12.46, 1.44 seconds shy of the school record.

  • Senior Shawn Scornaienchi's 54.54 meter javelin throw was good enough for fourth place. Finally, senior Zayd Abdul-Ali took a sixth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles after recording a 55.67 time.
