Freshmen Aliyah Newman, Jacob Greenless, and Xyan Xrichardson were each named to the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Rookie Team for being the top rookies in their respective events.

Newman was the top performing rookie in the triple jump this season and second best overall behind teammate Taylor McCormick. The Chesterfield, Va. native recorded her best jump of the season during VCU's first place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet, earning silver with a 12.17m mark. Newman had a first place finish during the Father Diamond Invitational meet in January.

Greenless recorded the best mark among freshmen in the men's weight throw with a 15.51m toss. The freshman out of Woonsocket, R.I. ranked seventh overall in the conference and earned a second place finish in his first collegiate meet.

Xrichardson was the conference's best rookie high jumper this season and tied for third overall with a 2.09m mark. The Haymarket, Va. native set his personal best in the Atlantic 10 Championship meet to claimed third place. The freshman also placed third at the CNU Holiday Open and claimed his first win at the Towson Tiger Invitational.
