The indoor season is underway for the VCU men's track & field program and the Rams are focused on strong performances to set them up for a run at the CAA title come April.

Freshamn Eric Zwarycz is part of a new crop of talent that is donning the Black & Gold this year and prior to hitting the pole vaulting pit, he sat down with VCU Athletic Communications Student Assistant Nan Turner to tell us some more about him outside of the pit.

NT: If you had a million dollars what would you buy?
If I was given a million dollars I would probably buy a sweet car like a Lamborghini, pay for the rest of college, and then give the rest to my parents.

NT: Who has been the biggest influence in your Track & Field career?
My biggest influence in my track and field career so far is my high school pole vault coach Val Osipienko.

NT: What is your favorite thing to do at VCU?
My favorite thing to do at VCU besides homework is hanging out with my fellow teammates.

NT: What do you hope to accomplish in your first year with the Rams?
With my first year with the Rams my goal is to be CAA champion in pole vault.

NT: How did you get your start on the pole vault?
I first got started in pole vault my freshman year in high school. One day during practice there was pole vault tryouts and I didn't feel like doing the running workout so I decided to tryout. I was the best one out of the people who tried out so I decided to stick with it and found out that I was pretty good at it.

NT: What is the hardest part of a practice?
The hardest part of practice was the 6am Saturday morning practices we had at the beginning of the season, they were early and hard.

NT: Who is the funniest person on the team?
The funniest person on the team would have to be Kyle Jones because he always has me laughing.

NT: What do you do to relax on an off day?
On my day off I like to play X-box and hang out with my girlfriend.
