WALLACE, SEWARD EARN SPOTS IN IC4A CHAMPIONSHIPS AT VIRGINIA TECH LAST CHANCE MEET
BLACKSBURG, Va. – "Better late than
never."
At least that's what two members of the Virginia Commonwealth
University men's track & field team are saying after earning
spots in the upcoming IC4A Championships with just two weeks left
before the Rams head to Boston.
Juniors Brian Wallace (Portsmouth, Va.) and
Donnie Seward (Richmond, Va.) both posted
qualifying marks at this past weekend's Virginia Tech Last Chance
Meet.
Wallace leaped to a spot in the IC4A Championships in the triple
jump with a mark of 48' 3 ½" and Seward stopped the clock in
a qualifying time of 48.62 in the 400-meter dash.
Classmate Axel Mostrag (Krasnik, Poland)
continues to be the constant force on this year's Black & Gold
roster after posting a personal best of 4:05.65 in the mile
run.
Sophomore John Vial (Glen Allen, Va.), who has
been battling injuries throughout the year, charged onto the scene
with a second-place performance in the 5000-meter run with a time
of 14:51.97.
Wrapping up the weekend's highlights for the Rams was freshman
Nick Durante (Williamsburg, Va.) who cleared a
personal best in the pole vault with a height of 15' 3".
The Rams will have one more week of competition, the Mason Last
Chance Meet, on Feb. 28th, before heading to ECAC Championships in
the beginning of March.
