RAMS COMPETE IN ITA ATLANTIC REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN BLACKSBURG, VA.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, hosted by Virginia Tech, began on Thursday with the qualifying draws. Five Rams are competing for VCU Men's Tennis as the Singles Round of 128 and the first three doubles rounds have concluded on Friday.

The day was highlighted by junior Javier Amantegui and senior Philip Mobius as they collected one win apiece. Sophomore Inigo Torre Martin earned a bye in the first round of singles play.

Amantegui came out victorious in the Singles Round of 128 after defeating Alex Mascioli of Duquesne to advance to the Singles Round of 64.

Amantegui and Mobius as a pair recorded a win in the first round of doubles play, defeating Tyler Roth Thomas Dodson of Villanova before being defeated by Andrew Ton and Derrick Thompson of Navy in the second round.

The tournament will continue on Saturday as the Singles Round of 64 and 32, along with Doubles Quarterfinals, will be played.
