  • The Short Story: Junior Nick Jones picked up a victory in singles and doubles action to help the VCU men's tennis team advance to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a 4-0 defeat of Fordham on Friday afternoon. Freshman Vuk Velickovic and sophomore Michal Voscek also had singles victories in the match.
How It Happened
  • Voscek and freshman Wilder Pimentel got the Rams started in doubles action with a 8-4 win at the second spot. Jones and senior Alexis Heugas wrapped up the doubles point for the Black & Gold with an 8-6 win at #1 to put the Rams out in front 1-0.
  • An injury at #6 for Fordham gave Velickovic the victory and put VCU up 2-0.
  • Jones made quick work of Fordham's J.J. Tauil, 6-0, 6-1 to bring the Rams within one point of victory.
  • Voscek would deliver that point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mischa Koran at the #4 spot.
