  • The Short Story: Seniors Jaime Vazquez and Max Wennakoski made sure their final appearance at Thalhimer Tennis Center was a good one, each picking up individual singles victories to lead 29th-ranked VCU to a 4-2 win over George Washington in the regular season finale for both squads. The Rams will now head into next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament as the top seed.

How It Happened

  • The Colonials came out aggressively, taking the doubles point and following that up with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 singles to quickly take a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • Vazquez would then start a chain of four straight singles victories for the Black & Gold, blowing past GW's Leonardo Lapentti, 6-4, 6-4 at #5 singles.
  • Freshman Michal Voscek and Wennakoski followed with singles wins of their own to give VCU a 3-2 advantage.
  • Junior Alexis Heugas secured the win for the Rams with a hard-fought 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 win at #2 singles.
