RAMS DROP TWO IN TRIP TO SUNSHINE STATE

TAMPA, Fla. – A weekend trip to the Sunshine State resulted in only doom and gloom for the Virginia Commonwealth University men's tennis squad.

The Rams, who had climbed all the way up to 40th in the latest ITA rankings, dropped matches to South Florida (4-2) and Louisville (5-2) over the weekend to end an 11-game winning streak. VCU's overall mark this spring falls to 18-5.

"We just didn't play good tennis this weekend," Head Coach Paul Kostin said. "I've said all year that we weren't good enough to walk into any match and think we were automatically going to win. We need to bring the same focus into every match and we didn't have it this weekend."

Freshman Alejandro Argente was the only Ram to post a perfect 2-0 singles mark over the weekend. Against the Bulls, he notched a straight set 6-4, 6-2 win at the sixth position. He followed that up with another straight set win, 6-3, 6-3, at the fifth singles spot against the Cardinals.

VCU returns to action next Friday in a road contest at CAA foe, William Mary. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
