CHARRON EARNS FIRST-TEAM ALL-STATE ACCOLADES
RICHMOND, Va. – Nearly two months after he donned the VCU uniform for the final time, Thibaut Charron (Sens, France) is still collecting accolades as he was recently named First-Team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.
Charron was the only player not from the ACC on the first team after going 23-7 during his final campaign for the Rams.
His outstanding year helped him earn the CAA
Player of the Year Award, the Farnsworth/ITA Atlantic Region Senior
Player of the Year Award and a top-25 singles ranking for much of
the 2009-10 season.
"Thibaut showed a lot of determination coming back from a
bad injury that ended his season early last year," Head Coach
Paul Kostin said. "He had showed some
flashes of being really good in his first two years, but this year
he changed his approach to the game and it showed. He has a chance
to be a very special player."
Charron went a perfect 10-0 against regional opponents with all 10
being straight set victories. His biggest win came on March 24th
when he topped third-ranked Sanam Singh of Virginia, 7-6 (6),
6-4.
He concludes his VCU career with a 47-31 career mark with 23 of
those victories coming this spring.
