RICHMOND – The United Soccer Coaches released their 2017 All-Region Teams on Friday afternoon, as VCU Men’s Soccer had two selections on the squads. Both seniors Rafael Andrade Santos and Luc Fatton were selected to the teams, with Santos earning First Team honors and Fatton earning Third Team honors.

Santos has appeared in all but one game for the Rams this season, logging 12 goals and five assists for a total of 29 points that led the Atlantic 10 in points this season. The 2017 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, he also ran off a total of five game-winning goals, which led the Rams in that category. His scoring ability helped the Rams take down two ranked opponents in #15 UNC Wilmington and #9 Maryland, scoring in each of those contests. He has appeared in over 50 games with 48 starts over the last four years. His skills at the midfield over the past four seasons have earned him Atlantic 10 honors every year. He was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in 2014, Second Team in 2015, and finally First Team in 2016 before earning First Team and Offensive Player of the Year honors this year. He also earned All-VASID and All-Region honors in 2015 and 2016.

Fatton also appeared in all 19 games this season for the Rams, collecting nine goals and an assist for 19 points, ranking third on the team. He also put up three game-winning goals, which came in clutch during the Rams hit streak from September 24 through the end of the season. After transitioning to the forward position for the first time in his career, he has developed into one of the top attacking players in the A-10, earning All-Conference honors in both 2016 and 2017. He has collected two career hat tricks while wearing the Black and Gold, with one this season in a 4-1 win over Davidson.
