TAMPA, Fla. – Rising junior midfielder Nate Shiffman was recently named to the PDL National Team of the Week, after helping his squad the Fredericksburg Hotspur keep up its undefeated season with a 2-2 draw against the Carolina Dynamo last Saturday.
The Midlothian, Va., native converted a penalty kick early in the match to put his side on the board, before assisting on teammate Karel Manrau's stoppage-time equalizer to earn the 2-2 tie. The Hotspur are now 5-0-2 on the season.
Shiffman is the second VCU men's soccer student-athlete to garner PDL National Team of the Week honors, as Hotspur teammate and VCU rising sophomore defender Assane Keita received the distinction on May 31st.
In two seasons at VCU, Shiffman has played in 27 games while drawing 21 starts for the Black & Gold. The midfielder has produced five career points, on one goal and three assists.
The PDL is made up of over 70 squads across North America, playing in nine different divisions, featuring some of the best young players across the continent.
