RICHMOND, Va. - For the first time in three years, the VCU men's soccer team is heading to the CAA Tournament. The Rams will be the second seed this upcoming weekend and face a dangerous Hofstra team on Friday night.

A vital part of the Rams turnaround this year has been the play of midfielder Jake Van Yahres. Prior to hitting the practice fields for the week, Van Yahres sat down with VCU Athletic Communications Student Assistant Scott Wyant to tell us a little bit more about himself.

SW: Why did you decide to come to VCU?
JVY: I came here after my second season at American University. The decision was mostly due to soccer. VCU had a very strong program.

SW: What is your hidden talent?
JVY: I like to draw and always trying to get better on piano.

SW: Who your funniest teammate/coach?
JVY: There are a couple. Jack Van Arsdale and Joseph Haboush are two.

SW: When did you first start playing soccer?
JVY: I think when I was around 5.

SW: What is the greatest accomplishment of your VCU career so far?
JVY: To be honest, since I have been here I don't think it is fair to say that myself or the team has accomplished anywhere near what we could have.

SW: What is the best part of a road trip?
JVY: I won't say the game, that one is probably used to much. I'll go for the free restaurant meals.

SW: Where do you hope to be 10 years from now?
JVY: Playing
