  • VCU returns to the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center Wednesday to battle intra-city rival Richmond. This will be the 80th meeting between these two schools, separated by about eight miles. The Rams have won six in a row in the series and 10 of the last 12.

  • The Rams are coming off a tough loss at Dayton on Friday, Jan. 12. senior Justin Tillman scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but the Flyers hit 17 three-pointers and shot 63 percent from the field on the way to a 106-79 triumph.

  • Tillman has recorded a career-high seven straight double-doubles following Friday's contest at Dayton. He has been on fire since VCU returned from the Maui Invitational. In his past 12 games, he is averaging 21.0 points and 10.5 rebounds, while shooting .580 (94-of-162) from the field. He owns nine 20-point games and eight double-doubles during that stretch.

  • While this will be Mike Rhoades' first meeting against Richmond as head coach, he faced the Spiders eight times as an assistant coach and associate head coach with VCU from 2009-14. The Rams were 6-2 in those games. VCU is 16-4 against Richmond Head Coach Chris Mooney.

  • VCU overcame eight-point halftime deficits recently against Duquesne and La Salle. The Rams, who trailed by as many as 13 points against Duquesne, have overcome double-digit deficits to win three times this season.
