RICHMOND, Va. - VCU and Virginia will rekindle their in-state rivalry.
The Rams and Cavaliers have agreed to two-year home-and-home series that will see VCU host UVA at the Siegel Center on Nov. 17, 2017. The Rams will return the game at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville in 2018.
The schools, separated by just 70 miles, have met 13 times previously. The Rams and Cavaliers resurrected their series in 2013 following a 15-year hiatus. That contest, held in Charlottesville, saw VCU knock off the 25-ranked Cavaliers 59-56 on a late, game-winning 3-pointer by Treveon Graham.
Virginia returned the favor in 2014 when the Cavaliers, ranked seventh in the country at the time, topped the Rams 74-57.
The UVA contest highlights what is shaping up to be an impressive 2017-18 non-conference slate for VCU. The Rams are also scheduled to travel to the 2017 Maui Invitational, where they will take on a field that includes Notre Dame, Cal, Marquette, Wichita State, LSU and Michigan.
The Rams, who have reached the NCAA Tournament in six consecutive seasons, tip-off their 2016-17 campaign with an exhibition contest against Division II Queens University of Charlotte on Nov. 4 at the Siegel Center.
