RICHMOND, Va. – About five months ago, the Siegel Center was packed for its 50 straight sellout to celebrate the careers of Juvonte Reddic and Rob Brandenberg. Today, both graduated seniors have degrees from VCU and have both signed professional contracts.
Brandenberg signed a deal to play with the Gussing Knights of the top Austrian Basketball League. He joined his former teammate, Reddic, who signed last week with Victoria Libertas in Italy.
Brandenberg will be joining the reigning ABL champions, as the Knights took home the ABL title in 2013-14.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native averaged 8.4 points per game for his career, reaching a career-high 10.4 per game his junior season. His freshman season, he provided the team with a timely block in the waning moments of VCU's Sweet 16 overtime victory over Florida State.
He finished his career with 1,219 points, 332 rebounds, 190 assists, 179 3-pointers and 159 steals. He ranks in the top-10 in VCU history in both career 3-pointers and career steals.
Gussing is located in southeast Austria, very near the country's border with Hungary.
