RAMS EARN FIRST TOP-10 REGULAR SEASON RANKING IN SCHOOL HISTORY

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Head Coach Shaka Smart graduated from Kenyon College with a degree in history.

Now, he's busy making some history of his own. Smart's Rams are ranked 10th in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Top 25 Polls this week, the highest regular season rankings in the program's 44-year history.

VCU entered the season ranked No. 14 by the AP and No. 15 in the Coaches poll, the first preseason top 25 rankings in school history. After reeling off three straight wins to start the year, including a dramatic 59-56 victory at 25th-ranked Virginia, the Rams to catapulted into the top 10.

Michigan State is ranked No. 1 this week in both polls after its victory over previously top-ranked Kentucky. Although the order differs between the polls, Kansas, Louisville, Kentucky, Arizona, Duke, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Syracuse and VCU complete the top 10 in both rankings.

VCU heads to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off this week, where it will face ACC foe Florida State on Thursday night. Tip time on ESPNU is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
