ROWDY RAM MEMBERSHIPS SELL OUT IN RECORD TIME
RICHMOND, Va. – Entering the upcoming 2013-14 season, the VCU Basketball program has played in front of 35 straight sellouts at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel, inside the HDL, Inc. Athletic Village. That's the fifth-longest active home sellout streak in the country.
With just over two months before the start of the season, it doesn't look like that streak will be stopping anytime soon if the Rowdy Rams, VCU's student group, has anything to say about it.
Not only did the Rowdy Rams sell all 1,500 memberships for the second year in a row, but this go-round, it was in record time. It took just 11 hours and seven minutes for all 1,500 spots to be gone.
""The Rowdy Rams are an essential part of our gameday atmosphere and their support continues to reach new level each year," " Director of Athletics Ed McLaughlin said. "They are the biggest reason we won the Naismith Student Section of the Year in 2012-13. As an athletic department, we're extremely appreciative of their passion and can't wait for another great year with them in the stands."
The Rams open up their regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 against Illinois State. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
