3/14-17 Atlantic 10 Tournament (CBS)
RICHMOND, Va. – January 9. That’s the date HAVOC makes its Atlantic 10 Conference debut.
The 2012-13 VCU men’s basketball schedule was finalized on Thursday with the announcement of the Atlantic 10 Conference schedule. Fifteen national TV games highlight an action-packed slate for the Black & Gold.
To go along with a highly-touted non-conference slate, the Rams make their Atlantic 10 debut on January 9 when the Dayton Flyers visit the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. Three days later, VCU makes the trek to St. Bonaventure to battle with the reigning conference champions.
Phil Martelli and a talented Saint Joseph’s squad visit Richmond on Jan. 17 for a game that will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. A trip to Duquesne on Jan. 19 precedes the first of two black and blue showdowns, with VCU heading across town to battle the University of Richmond in a Jan. 24 CBS Sports Network contest.
On Jan. 26, the NIT participant LaSalle arrives at the Siegel Center for another CBS Sports Network showdown. Trips to Rhode Island (Jan. 30) and Charlotte (Feb. 9) sandwich a home showdown with Tom Pecora and the Fordham Rams on Feb. 2.
The Minutemen of UMASS will be VCU’s Valentine’s Day partner. That match-up will be shown on CBS Sports Network. Two days later, George Washington travel down I-95 to visit the Siegel Center.
Back-to-back road games follow Feb. 19 and Feb. 23 with Saint Louis and Xavier, respectively. Both games will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
A highly-anticipated Final Four rematch with Butler, led by Coach Brad Stevens, is set for March 2 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. ESPN or ESPN2 will carry the game nationally. VCU is back on TV four days later (March 6) when it plays host to Richmond at the Verizon Wireless Arena in a game that will be seen on CBS Sports Network.
A trip to the city of Brotherly Love wraps up the 2012-13 regular season for the Black & Gold with the Rams facing off against Temple on March 10. That game will be televised on CBS.
In addition to the nine televised conference games, the non-conference showdowns with Wichita State (ESPNU), Alabama (CBS Sports Network) and Lehigh (A10 TV) will all be televised. VCUAthletics.com will carry live streaming video of every VCU home game this season.
Local and regionally television packages have not been completed. Those details will be announced in the near future.
