QUICK HITS:
· Quick, athletic guard who can score in
bunches
· 6-7 wingspan allows him to be a defensive
nuisance on the perimeter
· Brandenberg wore No. 23 as a freshman but
switched to No. 11 prior to his sophomore year. VCU great
Kendrick Warren’s No. 23 jersey was retired several years ago
and Brandenberg chose to wear No. 11 in an effort to leave his own
distinct mark on the program.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2011-12):
The Basics:
· He saw action in all of the Rams’ 36
contests and received the starting nod in 15.
· Finished the season with averages of 9.0
ppg and 2.2 rpg.
Highlights:
· Earned a spot on the CAA All-Tournament
Team after averaging 12.7 points in VCU’s three games.
· Garnered All-CAA Academic Team honors.
· Scored in double-figures 15 times,
including a stretch of six games from 11/20-12/9
· Poured in 21 points at UNC Wilmington on
6-of-12 shooting, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc on Feb.
22
· Tied a career high in rebounds in a game
against Georgia State on Jan. 4
AS A FRESHMAN (2010-11):
The Basics:
· Played in 39 of the Rams’ 40 games
and averaged nearly 14 minutes per contest.
· Finished his rookie year averaging 4.9
ppg.
Highlights:
· Scored in double-figures in five games,
while reaching the 20-point plateau twice (at William & Mary
and at home vs. Georgia State.)
· Bradenberg’s 23 points against
Georgia State were the most by a VCU freshman since Kendrick Warren
scored 24 during the 1990-91 season.
· While senior Brandon Rozzell on the
sidelines with a broken hand for an eight-game stretch, Brandenberg
averaged 10.7 points and knocked down 13 three-pointers in nearly
25 minutes per contest.
· After his 22-point outburst in a road win
at William & Mary, Bradenberg was named CAA Rookie of the
Week.
· Came up with the unforgettable block on
Florida State’s Chris Singleton to seal VCU’s 72-71
Sweet 16 overtime victory.
