RAMS SET TO HOST OPEN PRACTICE FOR STUDENTS, PUBLIC ON OCT. 30TH

RICHMOND, Va. – The droves of black and gold that grew bigger and bigger this past March have been anxiously awaiting their first chance to see their beloved men's basketball team take the court for the 2011-12 campaign.

That wait just got a little shorter as the Rams announced that they will host an open practice on Oct. 30 for all of Ram Nation. Students are encouraged to get to the Verizon Wireless Arena early as doors will open for STUDENTS ONLY at 3 p.m. The rest of the public will be allowed to enter at 3:45 p.m., with the practice getting underway around 4 p.m.

The early entrance gives students their chance to get their picture taken with the Southwest Regional Trophy and the ESPY trophy, while also getting the first shots at prizes, drawings and much more.

These VCU practices became the talk of the 2011 NCAA Final Four run when the Rams were crowd favorites because of the energy and excitement that they brought to the court, including Head Coach Shaka Smart who famously participated in the "Iron Man Drill" (video, right) during the open practice in Houston.

Practice will begin around 4 p.m. with player and coach introductions. Practice will follow with ESPN Radio's Greg Burton on the mic with coaches and administrators joining him throughout. There will be all sorts of opportunities to win prizes throughout the practice and the fun-filled day will conclude with a quick Q&A with Coach Smart and Burton.

You don't want to miss out on your first chance to see the 2011-12 Rams! Come on out  to the Verizon Wireless Arena with your family, friends, neighbors and anybody else you want to welcome to Ram Nation!
