RICHMOND, Va. – At his introductory press conference in April of 2009, Head Coach Shaka Smart of VCU men's basketball unleashed a phrase that has become synonymous with the Black & Gold.
"HAVOC" is the style of play that Smart and his staff have embraced since they arrived in Richmond and this past March the whole world saw exactly what HAVOC can create.
HAVOC is defined as "great confusion and disorder" and the up-tempo, in your face style of play by Black & Gold in the 2011 NCAA Tournament sure created HAVOC across college basketball as VCU quickly became a household name en route to the school's first-ever Final Four.
Now, Coach Smart is turning to VCU Nation for their help. Sporting one of the top Art & Design schools in the country, the Rams are looking for one of their own to create a "HAVOC" logo that will be used as THE brand of VCU Basketball.
It will also be used as the logo for the 6 th Man Reward t-shirts that are given away to students who sign up for the program.
The contest will run up until the first day of team practice, which is set for October 14th .
What do you need to do? First, you must be a valid VCU staff member, student or alumni. Second, email your name, address, phone number and your new "HAVOC" logo (in .jpg format) to email@example.com.
On Monday, Oct. 24th, the choices will be narrowed down to the final three, which we will then turn to Ram Nation to choose the winner.
The winner will be unveiled at VCU's exhibition opener against California University (Pa.) on Nov. 3 rd .
