MAYNOR, SANDERS ENJOY STRONG STARTS TO 2010 NBA SEASON
OKC-Chicago Box Score
Milwaukee-New Orleans Box Score
Less than 19 months ago, Eric Maynor was throwing up an alley-oop to Larry Sanders in a sold-out Richmond Coliseum as the VCU men's basketball team routed George Mason, 71-50, in the 2009 CAA Championship game.
On Wednesday night, both former Rams were suiting up at the highest level making their first appearances of the 2010 NBA season.
In his second season with the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder, Maynor was perfect. Seriously, perfect as he finished 3-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the charity stripe for 10 points, while dishing out an assist and grabbing a rebound.
A telling stat was Maynor's plus-minus stat which was +8 for the Thunder, which ended the evening with a 106-95 home victory over the Chicago Bulls, who many are picking as a threat to win the Eastern Conference.
In his NBA debut, Sanders saw limited minutes due to Milwaukee's veteran depth in the frontcourt, but gave Scott Skiles quality minutes with a block and a rebound, exactly what the Bucks are looking for.
Like Maynor, Sanders' plus-minus stat told a lot with a +11 for the former Ram, one of only two members of his team to finish in the positives as the Bucks fell on the road in the season opener, 95-91 to New Orleans.
Maynor and the Thunder visit Detroit on Friday night, while Sanders and the Bucks travel to Minnesota. Both games started at 8 p.m.
