RICHMOND, Va. – With a record setting attendance figure in 2009-10, it's clear that the Virginia Commonwealth University men's basketball program is beloved by the Richmond area.

Coach Smart and the VCU athletic department would like to share that same love back to its loyal fan base with two barnstorming dates to kick off the 2010-11 basketball season.

"This is a great event that allows us to get out and spend time with the dedicated fans that support us throughout the year," Smart said. "It's the least we can do to show our appreciation."

The first barnstorming will take place on Thursday, October 7 at Champps in Stony Point Mall with the second coming on Wednesday, October 27 at Glory Days in the West End off Ridgefield Parkway.

Along with Coach Smart and some of his staff, many members of the VCU athletic department will be in attendance in anticipation for the men's basketball season which starts on Nov. 4th with an exhibition contest against Virginia Union.

Coach Smart will join Rams play-by-play man Robby Robinson for a Q&A session that will give updates on the team and an in-depth look into the 2010-11 campaign.
