The short story: Freshman Adrian Vagberg continued his red-hot play, as he booked his first career top-five finish to lead VCU to fourth at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate this week.

FIRST TEE

  • Vagberg shot 70-72-75 on the way to a fourth-place showing. The freshman from Sollentuna, Sweden finished 4-over for the 54-hole event. It's his second top-15 finish as a Ram and surpassed his 12th-place finish at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational on March 12
  • VCU placed fourth in the 21-team field at 32-over. The Rams finished three strokes off the pace of Drake. Campbell, ranked 43rd by Golfweek, collected the team trophy at 11-over, followed by Loyola (Md.) at 21-over. Eastern Kentucky (+34) rounded out the top five
  • Freshman Ian Peng weathered a challenging final round Tuesday, but a 4-under 67 during Monday's second round carried him to a share of 16th place at 9-over
  • Sophomore Kristian Tannum Donaldson (T24th), sophomore Sachin Kumar (T43rd) and Clifford Foster (T75th) completed the VCU scoring
