The short story: Senior Jamie Clare tied his career-low round on the tournament's opening day and rode that performance to a top-15 finish at the Bank of Tennessee at Blackthorn this weekend. The Rams finished 12th overall.
 
FIRST TEE
  • Clare fired a bogey-free 6-under 66 in the first round of the tournament on Friday and followed with a 3-under 69 the following day. He finished 4-under (66-69-77=212) for the tournament. Clare recorded just one bogey during his first two rounds of the weekend.
  • While VCU (+8) eventually slid to 12th place, the Rams did record their lowest team round of the fall on Friday, a 5-under 283.
  • Seventeenth-ranked Virginia (-35) pulled away for the team victory. No. 24 Missouri (-22) was second, followed by No. 14 Kent State (-15), UNC Wilmington (-8) and East Tennessee State (-3).
  • Hanish Nagrini was steady all weekend (71-75-73=219) and placed 38th for the Rams.
  • Senior Enej Sarkanj provided his best round of the season, a 3-under 69 on the tournament's second day. He placed 57th, as did teammate Alister Balcombe.
