THE BASICS
  • Sophomore Adam Ball made a move up the leaderboard Friday, firing a second-round 70 to climb into a tie for 23rd place at the NCAA San Antonio Regional at Briggs Ranch Golf Club. He began the day tied for 44th after an opening round 75 on Thursday.
  • Behind Ball, VCU shot 1-over (289) as a team and slid into 10th place at 13-over. The Rams will need to make up 11 strokes during Saturday's final round to secure one of the tournament's five bids to the NCAA Championship.
  • Georgia (-10) leads the field, followed by Vanderbilt (-8), SMU (-6) and Georgia State (+1). UCLA, TCU and Georgia Southern all tied for fifth at 2-over.
  • Adam Ball vaulted into the top 25 after back-to-back birdies on holes 5 and 6 moved him to 2-under for the day. He fired four birdies during Friday's round.
  • Freshman Enej Sarkanj continues to impress for VCU. He carded an even-par 72 Friday and is currently tied for 39th at 3-over.
  • Steffen Harm and Rocky Khara (+5) are tied for 51st for the Rams, and Matt Ball Jr. (+9) is 66th.
