THE BASICS
  • VCU (+12) is tied for 12th following the first day of play at the NCAA San Antonio Regional.
  • The Rams trail fifth-place UCLA and TCU (+2) by 10 strokes for one of the coveted NCAA Championship spots. Sixth-ranked Georgia (-7) leads the field, followed by Charleston (-3) and Central Florida (Even) and SMU (Even).
  • A quartet of players led the Rams Thursday. Adam Ball, Matt Ball Jr., Enej Sarkanj and Steffen Harm all shot 75 and are tied for 44th place. Rocky Khara is just a stroke off his teammates' pace after carding 76.
  • Fifteenth and 57th place are separated by just three stokes, which means there's plenty of room for players to shuffle up and down the leaderboard in the final two rounds.
  • TCU's Julien Brun and SMU's Bryson Dechambeau (-5) each shot 67 Thursday to take the individual lead.
