TALKING POINTS
  • Adam Ball carded a scorching 3-under 69 and tied for third at 2-under Sunday at the weather-shortened Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.
  • Behind Ball, VCU tied for ninth in a competitive field that included top-40 teams Memphis, Virginia Tech, Iowa State and Purdue. The Rams (+12) shot 296 and 292 for a 36-hole total of 588.
  • North Carolina (-5) earned the team title, followed by Chattanooga (+1), Memphis (+4), Virginia Tech (+6) and Purdue (+8).
  • After shooting 1-over on Saturday, Adam Ball found a rhythm Sunday. The sophomore carded five birdies on the day, including three in a five-hole stretch on the back nine. Ball leads the Rams this fall in rounds of par or better with seven, and Sunday's 69 was his best of the season.
  • Adam Ball has placed in the top 10 of five of his 11 collegiate tournaments.
  • Sophomore Steffen Harm continued his solid play of late, shooting 71 Sunday for VCU to tie for 21st overall at 3-over (75-71=146).
  • Also for VCU, Hanish Nagrani and Matt Ball Jr. tied for 44th, while Rocky Khara was 75th. Two Rams, Gino Vandenberg and Enej Sarkanj, played in the tournament as individuals and tied for 77th.
