RICHMOND, Va. – After posting his third straight top 10 finish, Virginia Commonwealth University freshman Adam Ball (Richmond, Va.) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week. It his second A-10 weekly award.
Ball placed second at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate March 10-12 in Pinehurst, N.C. to lead the Rams to a runner-up finish in the tournament.
On the final day of the tournament on Pinehurst's No. 6 course, Ball fired a 2-under 69. He was 3-over (73-73-69=215) for the 54-hole event and finished one shot behind Tyler Merkel of Ball State for the individual title.
In three college starts, Ball a former star on the junior golf circuit, has finished second, ninth and 10th. His 72.22 scoring average over nine rounds leads the team.
VCU and Ball return to the links March 24-25 when they head to Wilmington, N.C. for the Seahawk Intercollegiate, hosted by UNC Wilmington.
