RAMS, SPIDERS SET TO PLAY INAUGURAL BLACK & BLUE CUP ON APRIL 14TH

Hermitage Country Club

RICHMOND, Va. – Boasting some of the Commonwealth's best courses, golf is one of the most popular pastimes for residents of Richmond.

Those residents will get their chance to root on their favorite university in the city as VCU and Richmond announced the addition of the inaugural Black & Blue Cup to both of their spring schedules.

The one-day event will take place on April 14th with first swing set for 2 p.m. at Hermitage Country Club. It will be a head-to-head, match play event.

"We want to make this an annual event with a traveling trophy to be held for one year for the victor," VCU Head Coach Matt Ball said. "It's bragging rights as the best golf team in Richmond and should be a fun event."

The day will begin at 12:30 with a luncheon at the country club, where the individual players (eight from each side) will be introduced with their opponent for the day. The players will be ordered by scoring average.

Spectators are encouraged to come out and wear your Black & Gold to cheer for the Rams at no charge.
