RAMS START STRONG, BUT TOUGH SUNDAY LEADS VCU TO EIGHTH-PLACE FINISH
PINEHURST, N.C. – The Virginia Commonwealth University golf team put together back-to-back strong rounds, but could not find their rhythm on Sunday and finished in eighth place in the Golf Pride Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
Senior Matt Smith and sophomore Rocky Khara paced the Rams and both finished in the top 20 of the event.
Smith finished tied for eighth, and shot pretty consistently throughout the entire weekend. The Lancaster Pa. native finished with rounds of 72, 73, and 74 which was good for a 219 (+6).
Khara shot a 69 in Saturday's round and was tied for sixth place going into the final round. The sophomore finished tied for 14th finishing the tournament with a 220 (+7).
The team heads to Laredo, Texas this weekend to play in the Border Olympics starting on Friday March, 16th.
