ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Marc Dobias (Lausanne, Switzerland), sophomore Rocky Khara (Sebring, Fla.) and freshman Simon Taylor (Germany) all won both of their individual matches to lead Virginia Commonwealth University, which split a pair of matchups at The Match Play at Reunion Resort.
In the afternoon, VCU and Central Arkansas each won three individual pairings, but the Bears advanced via the tiebreaker.
Taylor was a winner for the second time on the day, downing Austen Moix 3 and 2. Meanwhile, Dobias defeated Pep Angles 2 and 1 and Khara finished 1UP on Chris Cooke.
The Rams move to the loser's bracket for Tuesday's final round, where they will face Villanova. VCU will tee off at 8:54 a.m.
