DULUTH, Ga. – Sophomore Matt Ball Jr. (Richmond, Va.) fired a final-round 76 and placed 38th overall to lead Virginia Commonwealth University at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic at Berkeley Hills Country Club.
Ball finished 10-over (72-78-76=226) for the tournament as the Rams placed 11th overall. VCU fired 915 strokes (300-306-309) and tied with Jacksonville at 51-over. North Florida (-9) captured the team championship, followed by Chattanooga (-7), East Carolina (+6) and Minnesota (+8).
Junior Marc Dobias (Lausanne, Switzerland) was a stroke behind ball at 11-over (77-75-75=227) and finished tied for 42nd overall. Sophomore Rocky Khara (Sebring, Fla.) was 44th for the Rams, followed by senior Matt Smith (Lancaster, Pa.) in 62nd.
VCU returns to action Oct. 29-30 when it heads to the UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate Classic in Greensboro, N.C.
