MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University welcomes a highly-competitive field to the VCU Shootout Sept. 26-27 at Hermitage Country Club.

The annual tournament will feature five players ranked in the top 100 last season, as well as four top 50 schools and 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Champion UNC Wilmington, which will look to defend its Shootout victory from last season.
The Rams will look to defend their home course behind a lineup that includes sophomore Matt Ball Jr. (Richmond, Va.) an All-CAA First Team selection last season, as well as junior Marc Dobias (Lausanne, Switzerland), who placed fourth two weeks ago at the Marshall Invitational.
2010 Shootout champion Nate McCoy of Iowa State returns. McCoy is the No. 55 ranked amateur golfer in the world, according to Golfweek. The field also features Harold Varner of East Carolina, Evan Beck and Lee Bedford of Wake Forest and Ben Kohles of Virginia, who each finished in Golfweek's top 40 last season. Bedford placed 32nd at the 2011 NCAA Championships.
The tournament tees off at 8:45 a.m. Monday on the Manakin Course with a shotgun start. The field will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by Tuesday's final 18 holes.
Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
