ROLLINS HEADS TO U.S. OPEN HOPING TO KEEP MOMENTUM GOING
Momentum can be a fickle thing when it comes to the sport of golf. It seems that it can change with just one swing.
Former VCU golf standout and current PGA star John Rollins hopes that momentum stays on his side heading into the second half of the season.
Rollins, who has posted back-to-back top-25 finishes, will look to make a late push up the FedEx Cup Standings, where he finished 59th last year and 20th in 2009.
The Richmond, Va. native posted his only top-10 finish of the 2011 season at HP Bryon Nelson Classic three weeks ago and finished in the top-25 at last week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.
He has three career victories on his resume, last taking home the hardware at the 2009 Legends Reno-Tahoe Open.
Rollins will look to continue his strong driving as he enters the weekend ranked second on the PGA Tour in total driving, which combines driving distance and driving accuracy percentage. His average drive is just over 295 yards, while he hits the fairway 64% of the time.
His next stop will be next week's Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Conn. He will look to add to his total earnings this year of $432,036.
