MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. – Senior Vincent Nadeau (Penhook, Va.) placed 10th to lead Virginia Commonwealth University, which finished seventh Tuesday at the annual VCU Shootout at the Hermitage Country Club.

Nadeau fired a 4-over par 76 on Tuesday to finish 2-over for the 54-hole tournament. The Rams entered the day tied for third, but recorded a 14-over 302 Tuesday. VCU was 19-over par for the two-day event, two strokes behind Iowa, Penn State and Virginia Tech.

UNC Wilmington captured the team title by a five-stroke margin over 19th-ranked Virginia. Defending Champion Wake Forest (+15) was third, followed by Iowa, Virginia Tech and Penn State (+17).

VCU played itself into contention Monday with a blistering 5-under second round. The Rams began the day in a third-place tie with Virginia, but couldn't replicate yesterday's blazing finish.

Corey Nagy of Charlotte claimed individual honors, finishing 6-under. Nagy fired a 2-under 70 during Tuesday's final round to slip past 2008 co-champ Brendan Gielow of Wake Forest (-4).

Also for VCU, senior Lanto Griffin (Blacksburg, Va.) and sophomore Chase Sargent (Orlando, Fla.) tied for 24th overall at 5-over, while senior Rafael Campos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) rallied from a disastrous opening round to place 47th at 11-over.

Rams' sophomore Evan Boyer (Raleigh, N.C.), who was entered as an individual and did not factor in the team scoring, tied for 10th at 2-over par.

VCU will return to action Oct. 10-12, when it heads to The Brickyard Collegiate Championship at The Brickyard at Riverside in Macon, Ga.
