RICHMOND, Va. – After making back-to-back appearances in the Atlantic 10 tournament, the VCU Field Hockey program is building for its future. That future includes six newcomers who signed national letters of intent last week to join the Rams this fall.

Alexis Albright (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland), Jamee Albright (Suffolk, Va./Lakeland), Natalie Bohmke (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford), Chessa Kownurko (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn.), Alaina Madeline (Yorktown, Va./Grafton) and Spencer Tossone (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) all signed NLIs to join Head Coach Laura Baker and the Black & Gold.

Alexis Albright – Suffolk, Va./Lakeland High School – Forward

- Scored 17 goals and 17 assists during the 2013 season. Was named to the First Team All-District, All-Region, All-Tidewater, and All-State during her senior year. 

-Was a member of Lakeland's State Championship team in 2010

- Junior Olympian in 2011

- Played soccer and ran track at Lakeland as well

Coach Baker on Alexis: "We are extremely excited to have Alexis join the VCU program. Alexis and her sister, Jamee, come from the terrifically successful Lakeland high school program in Suffolk, VA and we are very much looking forward to continuing that tradition of success."

Jamee Albright – Suffolk, Va./Lakeland High School – Forward

- Scored 13 goals and had 11 assists during the 2013 season

- Named first Team All Disctrict, All-Region, All-Tidewater her senior year

-Was a member of Lakeland's State Championship team in 2010

- Played soccer and ran track at Lakeland as well

Coach Baker on Jamee: "Jamee is joined by her sister in the 2014 incoming class. She has incredible speed and a huge amount of skill on the field. We are excited to finally have both girls and their family join the VCU family!"

Natalie Bohmke– Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford Senior – Defender

-Natalie joins VCU after four years at Stafford High School

-Bohmke was named the Free Lance Star Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2012

-During her senior campaign, she totaled 22 assists and 6 goals as a defender

-Was named to the All-Area, All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State First Teams after her senior year

Coach Baker on Natalie: "Natalie has been a key player for high school and club over the past few years. She is a versatile defender who can play a lot of different roles and we are looking forward to seeing her progress at VCU."

Natalie on Signing with VCU: "I chose VCU because I feel in love with the atmosphere at the university and it truly felt like home. The strong medical programs along with field hockey confirmed that it was the perfect school for me."

Chessa Kownurko - Lansdale, Pa/North Penn High School – Goalkeeper

- National Indoor Participant 2014

- Was coached at the club level by Kelly Driscol, an assistant coach at Temple University

- Plans to be an engineering major at VCU

Coach Baker on Chessa: "Chessa is a goalkeeper hailing from Pennsylvania out of FSC Club team. Chessa has huge potential in the cage, and has been very fortunate in having great coaches. We will look to build on this solid base once she is here on campus."

Chessa on Signing with VCU: "When I visited VCU I saw that everyone worked hard in everything that they did. That plus the incredibly friendly atmosphere of the team and the school's exceptional engineering program made VCU the perfect fit."

Alaina Madeline - Yorktown, Va/Grafton High School– Defender

- Named to the All-District Team and All-Region Team after her senior season for the Clippers

- Also participated in track and field and swam in high school

Coach Baker on Alaina: "Alaina comes from the highly successful Focus FH club team. With poise and composure on the ball, we will look to Alaina to slip into our defensive unit seamlessly and provide us with more depth in that area."

Alaina on Signing with VCU: "I love the atmosphere of Richmond, the chemistry of the team, and the relationship between the players and the coaches. I can't wait to be a part of it!"

Spencer Tossone - Virginia Beach, Va/First Colonial High School– Midfielder

- Spencer helped First Colonial to two State Championships during her time with the Patriots

-As a center midfielder in her senior season, she scored a career high 28 goals and had 19 assists

-In the fall she was named to the First Team All-District, All-Region, All-State, and All-Tidewater teams

- Junior Olympian in 2012

Coach Baker on Spencer: "Spencer is a two time state champion with First Colonial High School out of Virginia Beach. She is a dynamic midfielder with great attacking ability and we are looking forward to having her join us at VCU."

Spencer on Signing with VCU: "I couldn't picture myself going anywhere but VCU. I love everything about it from the field hockey program to the academics! When I met the girls on the team and saw how close they were with each other and the coaches, I knew that VCU is where I needed to be."
