RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Stephanie DeMasi of the VCU Field Hockey team is taking her talents back to her hometown of Virginia Beach.

DeMasi, a defender, was recently selected to play in the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game, held on November 23rd at Virginia Beach Sportsplex in Virginia Beach, Va.  The game time is set for 2:15 pm.

"Steph's selection for the NFHCA Senior Game is a wonderful achievement for her," said VCU head coach Laura Baker. "Steph has been one our most consistent players on the field throughout her entire career. She has grown into a key player in our defensive end and also makes her mark in the attacking end as our primary injector for penalty corners."

For the season, DeMasi has scored five goals, including two game-winners and tallied eight assists, totaling 18 points.  She earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors twice, including this past week.

Throughout her four seasons at VCU, DeMasi has been a regular contributor, scoring 11 career goals to go with 28 career assists.  She has been active centerpiece of VCU's defense, contributing to 12 shutouts for her career.

Coach Baker had heaps of praise for her senior captain.

"This year, Steph broke the assist record here at VCU and she has truly made her impact on the team on both ends of the field.  Her leadership abilities have made her into a great captain, and I can't wait to hear about all the successes she has later on in life as she pursues a career in the medical field," Baker added.

After two wins this past weekend, DeMasi and the Rams head north to Amherst, Mass. to play in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. Play begins on Friday against top-seeded UMass. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
