RAMS PICKED SECOND IN THE A-10 PRESEASON COACHES POLL

RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released their preseason coaches poll on Tuesday ahead of opening weekend for A-10 baseball programs. The poll currently has the Rams expected to finish second in the league this season behind only Saint Louis.

Last season, VCU compiled a 34-23 overall record, including a 14-10 record against conference opponents. The Rams received two first place votes, while Saint Louis led the way with nine. Davidson and Fordham also received one vote each.

VCU's 2019 roster is compromised of eight returning starters (six position players and two pitchers) and 15 newcomers for this upcoming season. Two key returners for the Rams are sophomore outfielder Hogan Brown, who was named to both the All-Conference and All-Rookie Team last season, and senior relief pitcher Mac McCarty, who was named as a Preseason Second Team All-American.

VCU's Baseball program enters it's seventh year under the direction of head coach Shawn Stiffler when they open the 2019 season against Coastal Carolina on Friday, Feb. 18. During his time with the Rams, Stiffler has compiled an overall record of 212-135 and led the program to an Atlantic 10 Conference Championship in the 2015 season.
