THOMPSON EARNS A-10 PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS

RICHMOND, Va. – After a weekend sweep of the UMass Minutemen this past weekend, the VCU Rams currently hold an 8-1 Atlantic 10 record and are atop of the conference. Much of that success fell to junior Sean Thompson, who has been awarded A-10 Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, as announced Monday afternoon.

Thompson was the top of the crop of VCU pitchers this weekend, as he led the Rams to a victory Friday over Massachusetts. The righty from Indiana, Pa., threw seven shutout innings, giving up only two hits and striking out four. He carried a perfect game into the bottom of the sixth inning before losing it, and did not walk a single batter during the outing.

Davidson’s Will Robertson and Saint Joseph’s Matt Maul split Player of the Week honors, while La Salle’s Mike Holt took home Rookie of the Week honors.
