THOMPSON NAMED A-10 PITCHER OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND – Junior pitcher Sean Thompson made one of the most defining starts in program history on Friday afternoon on Opening Day, as his victory over #5 Florida State earned him Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week honors, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Thompson threw five scoreless innings, only allowing one hit, striking out six and walking three batters. His performance gave the VCU Baseball one of its best win over a ranked opponent in program history. On the back end of Thompson's performance, both Matt Jamer and Sam Donko combined for four scoreless innings, while not allowing any hits in the dominating performance.

VCU will return to the field this Friday, as they travel to Charleston Southern for a three-game series. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
