PRIOR TO VCU
HARFORD COMMUNITY COLLEGE
- Played two seasons for Harford Community College in Maryland
- Helped lead Harford to a Conference Championship, while setting the school records for wins both seasons
- Was named to the All-Region teams both years at Harford
- Won back-to-back Maryland JUCO Gold Gloves
- Garnered Region XX Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2012
- Caught four no-hitters in his two years as Harford’s catcher
- Played for the Leesburgh Lighting in the Florida Collegiate League and the Alexandria Aces of the Cal Ripken Summer League after his freshman and sophomore seasons respectively

Coach Keyes on Octavi:
"Nick was one of the best defensive catchers in all of junior college baseball last year. He is a plus catch and throw guy who threw out 75% of base runners this season. His ability to handle a pitching staff, as well as, toughness behind the plate will be valuable this year with so many new pitchers in the program."
