SIZEMORE RECALLED BY DETROIT TIGERS
DETROIT - Former Virginia Commonwealth University standout Scott
Sizemore will join the Detroit Tigers for the third time this
season after being recalled from Triple-A Toledo late Monday.
Sizemore is expected to remain with the Tigers during the final
month of the regular season as Toledo played its final game of the
2010 campaign on Monday.
Despite recovering from an ankle injury last fall which required
offseason surgery, the Chesapeake, Va., native battled through
spring training and was named the Tigers' starting second baseman
on Opening Day. However, Sizemore hit. 205 with five doubles
and one home run during the first month of the season and was
optioned to Toledo in May.
The Tigers again turned to Sizemore in late July after starting
third baseman and former Ram Brandon Inge was sidlined with a
broken hand. But Sizemore saw just 20 at-bats before
returning to Toledo.
In 76 games with the Mud Hens this year, Sizemore hit .298 with 23
doubles, nine home runs and 37 RBI. He hit .308 with 39
doubles and 17 homers and was named Detroit's minor league player
of the year in 2009.
