Box Score

WILMINGTON, N.C. – It’s been a rough two-week stretch for the Virginia Commonwealth University men’s soccer team.

The Rams dropped their second straight one-goal loss following a 1-0 defeat at UNC Wilmington Tuesday evening, while five of their last six matches (all losses) have been decided by a single goal.

VCU falls to 3-7-1 overall and 0-5 in the conference, while UNC Wilmington improves to 7-2-2 and 3-0-1 in the CAA play.

The Seahawks found the net just before the half as Tyler Clare sent a cross from the right side to Etienne Boulinger, who beat VCU goalkeeper Jack Van Arsdale (Richmond, Va.) with a shot inside the left post in the 44th minute.

Van Arsdale made his second straight start in the net for the Black & Gold and registered a career-high six saves.

The UNC Wilmington defense held the Rams in check as junior Romario Blandon (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) fired a game-high four shots, while all three of senior Owusu Seykere’s (Suame-Kumasi, Ghana) shots were on goal.

The Seahawks held a 12-9 advantage in shots and a 7-6 margin in corners.

VCU remains on the road for a 7 p.m. match Saturday against conference foe Hofstra.
