Troy Morris has been at Virginia Commonwealth University as a full time strength and conditioning coach since July 2012. He works with field hockey and the men and women’s track and field team.
In 2011, his first year, he served as an intern and worked primarily with men and women’s track and field and the cross country programs.
He served as the Assistant Track and Field and Cross Country Coach for Austin Peay State University from 2008-2011. He worked with the sprinters, hurdlers, and horizontal jumps.
As a Graduate Assistant for Austin Peay State University from 2008-2009,Morris worked with 11 different sports programs, which included men and women’s basketball, men and women’s golf, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, football, baseball, softball, men and women’s cross country and women’s track and field.
Morris received his Master's of Science degree in Sport and Wellness Leadership and Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science from Austin Peay State University. Prior to his academic career, he served in the United States Army from 1992-2001. Also while stationed both overseas and at Ft. Campbell, he competed in the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
Morris is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, level 1 sports performance coach through the United States Weightlifting Association, a level 1 track and field coach through the USA Track and Field Association, and a licensed massage therapist in the state of Tennessee.
