Matt Cannady is in his second season as the VCU men's soccer program's volunteer assistant. Cannady spent the 2010 campaign as the team's graduate assistant. Cannady came to VCU after a four-year playing career at Bellarmine University in Louisville, K.Y.
"I am very excited and thankful for the opportunity Coach Giffard and the VCU men's soccer staff have provided me with," said Cannady. "It's a chance to continue to learn from some of the best coaches."
"Matt is a talented young coach who is hungry to break into college coaching," Head Coach Dave Giffard said. "He's a guy that I got to know when we worked together at a camp at Arkon, and has had some great coaching mentors along the way as a player. His energy and drive to learn and to assist the program in any way possible are second to none. Matt brings a lot of value to our staff."
Originally from Belleville, Ill., Cannady served as a student assistant at Bellarmine during the spring before relocating to Richmond. Cannady earned his Master's degree at the VCU Center for Sport Leadership.
