VCU Cheerleading is known for being a great "crowd team". The cheerleaders enjoy performing for the crowd and leading them in supporting our teams. We always get great responses from the Rams fans in helping cheer our teams to victory.
Open tryouts for the VCU Cheer Squad (Combined both Girl & Coed) will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2015 in the Stuart C. Siegel Center Auxillary Gym, located on the east end of the building. A valid VCU Student ID or VCU Acceptance Letter is required and must be presented at auditions. Individuals must be present during both tryout sessions.
A complete physical will be required upon selection to the VCU Cheer Squad. You'll find the physical evaluation form as well as all other forms required at the link below. Please also include a copy of your insurance card.

Squad members will be limited to 24 people and the guy to girl ratio will be determined on need and ability.
Skills: Flyers will need to be able to hit all flexible body positions, scorpion, scale and stretch on both legs. Twisting from all positions is mandatory.
Males, Bases and Back Spots must exhibit mastery of stunting in both execution of entry and cradle skills. Males need to be prepared to execute toss stunts and All-Girl squad candidates need to be prepared for rewinds and switch ups as well as controlled twisting dismounts for all skills. All males will execute their stunts unassisted, but with spotters.
Tumbling: Tumbling skills will be assessed on a case by case basis (i.e. if a flyer is exceptional as a flyer but with minimal tumble skills she could still be considered an asset to the squad).
Jumps: Everyone, males and females will need to have double jump and jump to tumble. Double toe touch and hurdler as well as pike combos are recommended.
Interview: At the third session an interview session will be conducted to better assess a candidate's personality and to answer all questions or concerns.
